Wineskin

Have you given much thought to our internal wineskins?

What is the wineskin of my mind? My heart? My imagination? My soul? My spirit, my emotions, my love, my mercy, compassion, kindness.... etc. Meaning, what is the construct of my thought patterns, my love patterns, my kindness patterns, etc.,? Are those constructs bendable, moveable, moldable by the Holy Spirit?

God is the manifestation and the essence of Love. It is who He is. So love is where we meet. In this season the wineskin of love within my heart and soul is being stretched regularly. I must do the internal work of enlarging my capacity for love, if I am to continue hearing His voice, sensing His will, seeing His perspective, connecting with His intentions. My own limitations of love will limit my connection with Him. So this stretching is so very good.

I’ve also felt and seen, over many many years, over and over again, how love can only be found in humility. Love is not proud.

So here in this place, in the stretching of this year, this season, this moment let’s bring ourselves low in humility, and soften, stretch and enlarge our wineskin for love.
