Interview with Pete Greig

Pete Greig - United Kingdom

Pete Greig is the bewildered founder of 24-7 Prayer, an international, interdenominational movement, of prayer, mission and justice which has reached more than 100 nations. He is also an award-winning author of nine books and a co-host of the Lectio365 daily devotional used by 330,000 people.

Pete and his wife Sammy are proud parents of two adult sons, members of The Order of the Mustard Seed, and founding pastors of Emmaus Rd church in the south of England, which has grown from the backroom of a pub into a large, multi-congregational community centred on prayer and serving the poor. Sammy also works as a professional counsellor.

Pete is a director of Waverley Abbey - one of the oldest places of Christian prayer in the British Isles, an Ambassador for the NGO Tearfund, and a convenor for the annual Wildfires Festival. For 8 years he served as Director of Prayer for Alpha International.

Alongside his writing and teaching, Pete’s body of work includes The Prayer Course (down-loaded more than 3 million times), and the Aidan’s Way pilgrimage series for which he hiked more than 300 miles from the Scottish island of Iona to the Holy Isle of Lindisfarne.

In his spare time, Pete enjoys mooching around art galleries and junk shops, laughing with friends, and following the vagaries of Portsmouth FC.
